Prayer (Salat), as the second pillar of Islam, is of great importance. It enables the believer to express his adoration of God, the One Creator. It is directly and without intermediary between man and God.
Sura 2, Verse 186
"When
my servants ask thee concerning me, tell them that I am near them, I
fulfills the wish of one who calleth unto me. They should therefore
respond to my call for submission and believe in me to be well led. "
Sura 98, Verse 5
"Yet
there they were ordered to worship God, to worship him pure, sincere
monotheists, to perform the prayer, to perform for charity, for such is
the religion of perfect orthodoxy. "
Historically, God commanded the believers to pray by giving him praise. In the Qur'an, it is often referred to prayer and particularly to those of the prophets (peace and salvation be upon them).
Sura 10, Verse 87
"We revealed to Moses:" Ask, and your brother, your people to make homes in Egypt. Make your homes and places of worship. Complete prayer and proclaim good news to the believers. "."
Sura 14, Verse 40
"Make me prayer and some of my offspring also carry the O Lord, my invocation approved!"
The fulfillment of the prayer must be done rigorously, both in its preparation than that of its fulfillment. It marks the believer's life as it should be done regularly throughout the day. This
fact reveals his truly cosmic rhythm, partly because it follows the
natural movement of the sun and secondly, because the intervals between
each prayer experience some acceleration.
Making prayer a believer Indeed, as and as the day progresses, these intervals are reduced. The
longest interval is between the morning prayer (Al-Fajr) and lunch
(Al-Dhuhr), and the shortest interval between that is taking place after
sunset (Al-Maghrib) and that of the night (Al-^ Isha '). This rhythm is also present in the Koran itself. Indeed, we find the beginning of this work the longest suras at the end and the shortest. This
is how the believer, in addition to doing an act of worship, goes in
harmony with the universal rhythm that governs all things created by the
Almighty.
The prayer consists of rak ^ ah, indivisible units containing their own sign language and oral pillars. Their number depends on prayer that the believer must perform. These pillars gestural, there are four main postures: standing, inclination, prostration and sitting on your heels. Each position is endowed with a real symbolic and spiritual significance. According
to the most common traditional commentaries, prayer summarizes the
forms of submission and worship of all created beings: the trees and the
mountains stand, the stars rise and set, the animals are tilted and
everything living thing gets its food from the earth. In this way, the
Every Muslim pubescent, sane and pure must perform the ritual prayer. Of course, on the occasion of his apprenticeship, the Muslim can start learning earlier. It is recommended, according to the prophetic tradition, the child to do the prayer at the age of 7 years. For
purity, we must understand that the believer must have made his
ablutions (the great al-ghusl - the small al-woudhou ') if its pure
state has been lifted. We will see the ablutions in more detail later.
The conditions of validity of the prayer are:
